Open Letter to Mr. Karan Johar

Dear Mr Johar,

Thank you for your very famous coffee show Koffee with Karan. I am amazed how no one ever thought of interviewing celebrities and giving them gift hampers. Your foresight into people's characters and personality complications is APA Award-worthy (Note: thats like the oscars in your language). While it is absolutely thrilling to see the same faces, the same names, the same interviews, hear the same questions over and over (and over) again .....(seriously, it's been 3 seasons - change some of the questions). I have 'a' question about a particular question you ask everyone who appears on the show!

So here's my question: In the Rapid Fire round, while you always ask to rate actors, and I quote,"Rate in order of acting ability: Shahrukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan...." and so on and so forth; why is it that when it comes to women, you always ask "Rate in order of sex appeal"? Why dont you ask the fellow actors to compare an Irfan Khan to a Kay Kay ....  Anupam Kher to a Naseruddin Shah? Why are women portrayed simply for their sex appeal. Half the women on that list have nothing sexy attributed to them. Why I recall a certain Ms. Chopra describe herself as a tomboy! So where exactly does the sex-appeal lie in a tomboy? Why is Shabana Azmi never in the list, or Shefali I-forget-her-last-name?

Tsk Tsk .... Why is your name not on the list :))) ?

I would love to see someone like a sound engineer or an editor who is not related to any of the Khans' on the show as well. You see, they are the real brains behind the movie. I would love to see an Anupam and Kiron Kher, or a Ratna and Supriya Pathak. I'd like to hear the experiences of the production assistants, the assistants, the post production team members, the spot boys, the gaffers, the make up artists, the chaiwallas and hear them, their experiences. My knowledge is limited yours is not, use those brains. If I were to rely on some of the quips you have on screen, I'd say maybe you have some!

I have one final thing to say. That coffee hamper, or the Bottega and Vuitton luggage hampers are not needed by the Kareena Kapoors of this world. She makes 300 crores a year, she can afford to buy her own!!!

So there, my question(s)..... answer them, or don't .... whatever!!! Much obliged for your presence in the Hindi film industry, whatever would we do without you?

Without papa's last name....
Cheers!!
