Death of a fangirl

Someone once said if Passions rule your life, your Love is stronger and your Hate is deeper.

The intensity with which you hate now, is merely a reflection of the intensity with which you once loved. The deeper the love in the beginning the stronger the hate today.

Holi - its a culture meme!

Hello Planet Earth.

I know we dont have a culture Meme ........ but I'm sure there are things you do, days you celebrate that we across the world do not know of. So tell me more about your culture and history that makes you. I wont tag anyone. It is your choice. It could be a festival or something you do as a family. Or even a town celebration.

There is more to India than Slumdog Millionaire and today is a perfect occasion for me to share a festival with all of you should you choose to read it.

I been awol for a while but today is Holi in India (the much glorified festival of colours) where strangers dunk innocent people in a variety of unheathy chemical infested colors basically painting them red, blue, green, silver, hot pink and purple. See these cornucopia of colours..... YES these are the common colors used.

So naturally being a festival et all its a holiday here (get it - Holi Day Holiday .... ha ha ha *Iz Lame* ) and that is my day to catch up on me posts. No thank you I can do without the colors and a baboonesque face. I havent played in almost 10 yrs and I don't think I plan to start today!!

Colors: So there are two ways of playing Holi. One is by using Gulaal or Dry powder and the second way is to play with these colors that come in small medicinal bottles. They are completely synthetic and can take weeks to disappear. Needless to say these young ones play with the latter completely. The older generation - Me - I still prefer to play with the dry colors, if at all. It's safer and it's mostly silica. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holi

So while people of all ages play, the legally aged ones get to sample bhang. It is an intoxicant, legal for most parts of the country on certain days of the year. It is absolutely natural. It is an intoxicant made with leaves and seeds of female cannabis. (Did you know there was a male and a female cannabis plant? .... More importantly, how do you tell one from the other.) Oh Knowledge! thy comes in strange ways.

I transgress!

Ok, so bhang is werid looking, looks like jaggery and needs to be mixed into milk. It's probably the purest form of intoxicant available today. Unprocessed and un-chemical (is that a word) infested, which is why it is legal TODAY :) ..... Mixed with milk and some thandai ...  it tastes delish, like nuts in a saffron milk shake .... and it gives you the best sleep evah! It is very popular with the Hare Rama's and the sadhus and the sages and the priests ... it is the most natural way to get high.

So let me tell you about this one time I OD'd on bhang. We were at a friend's, drinking and dunking ourselves in this little mud pool we'd made. Bhang .... You dont get high, you get into crazy bouts of laughter and then you sleep without making a fool of yourself. So I went straight from literally falling off a barrel I was sitting on, to falling asleep right there in the garden amidst the mud and the grass and the bhang and the worms! Well, I did make a fool of myself, but then I'm thick skinned that way! And then ALL intoxicants should do that I say. You need some of it in your system especially if you need to return to work the next day with half your face pink the other half green and purple.

Apparently in the days of the Kama Sutra they would drink up and then mate. The slow lethargic almost tantric climax.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhang Did you also know that Lord Shiva is also known as Kamadev, even though the real Kam dev (dev meaning god) is not Shiva. Shiva's known as Kamdev for his virility and libido.
Kama Dev - God of love. Kamadev is married to Rati or Passion. Geeeeezus I transgress.

The sensible stuff goes like this Holi marks the beginning of Spring and is celebrated with the worship of Holika and it marks the beginning of spring but then I already said that.

Let's pretend I know a lot and gave you lots of valuable information now shall we!

This should give you an idea of what people this side of the world looks like today.
Glamouroooooos much! Now you know why I call it madness. You just close your eyes and plunge in. There is NO WAY OUT.

P.S. I fear the brother and the cuzns lurk near as I write this. I have water baloons hidden in my room. Ha ha ha .... and they thought they shall catch me unprepared. I shall not give in without a fight.
